A PERFECT MARRIAGE

A new British coffee brand, Cupper’s Journey, is set to make its debut in the UK restaurant and café sector, introducing a curated collection of premium single-estate and single-origin African coffees.

The brand launches with a premium range of speciality coffees, each sourced from exceptional estates across Africa including Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Zambia and Uganda. Each one has achieved a cupping score of 84 or above under the Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) grading system, denoting a high-quality speciality.

The collection showcases the diversity of African coffee, with distinct flavour profiles reflecting each origin. Highlights from the range include:

  • Bekele Kachara, Ethiopia (£14.85/250g) – lightly roasted single-estate option with notes of almond and tropical fruit (cupping score: 88).
  • Rwamatamu, Rwanda (£14.85/250g) – medium-light & naturally processed with berry-like acidity and creamy mouthfeel (cupping score: 88).
  • Silverback, Uganda (£14.85/250g) – delicate fruit sweetness with strawberry notes and undertones of malt, nutmeg and dark chocolate (cupping score: 86).

Developed by husband-and-wife team Colin and Sarah Hall, Cupper’s Journey is rooted in the principles of the slow coffee movement, championing quality, craftsmanship and origin-led storytelling.

MICRO MANAGEMENT

Co-founder, Colin Hall, said: “We created Cupper’s Journey to shine a light on the vibrant African coffee scene and incredible people behind each cup. After years of seeing high-scoring coffees overlooked, we set out on a mission to hunt down the best micro-lots we could find, curating a collection of exceptional single-estate and single-origin coffees. Each one has a high cupping score, offering something genuinely distinctive to the UK sector.”

Designed with both retail and hospitality in mind, it is suited to cafés, hotels and restaurants looking to elevate their offering. The brand also supports hospitality partners with equipment, including the Hiroia Hikaru V60 Smart Brewer, enabling a consistent pour-over experience aligned with the growing consumer interest in slow coffee.

Hall added: “We’re seeing a shift in how people experience coffee, with more consumers choosing to slow down and be more intentional about what they drink. It’s no longer about a quick caffeine fix, but quality, provenance and taking the time to brew a better cup. We’ve created our range to reflect that more considered approach.”

The slow coffee movement advocates manual brewing with the ‘pour-over’ method, which is gaining in popularity. This method unlocks layers of aroma and complexity, providing a meditative ritual and moment of crafted perfection.

Cupper’s Journey works closely with producers who prioritise sustainability and responsible farming practices. The brand is committed to supporting coffee-growing communities, while delivering consistently high-quality products to the UK market.

The Cupper’s Journey range is available as whole bean and ground (filter) in 250g and 1kg packs, with an RRP starting from £14.85. Visit cuppersjourney.com for more info.
